this spring break has mostly been a big waste of time.

i've been drinking for 8 days straight.

last night, i almost had to shank a frat boy in the whataburger drive-thru. he made fat jokes about usa but then the drive-thru guy sided with us and fratboy and his sorostitute homegirl peeled out after more sophomoric insults. it was awesome. "i'm just trying to get some food and this guy is yelling stuff at me. should i call the law?" i did totally cut him off though but that's what he gets for a) being a douchebag and b) coming in the wrong entrance.

before that, at the bar, i pretended to go to high school with this guy i didnt even know because some dude was trying to go home with him and i was like "his boyfriend owns spiro's and is really jealous and i'd watch out for his 'vette if i were you cause it's got some christine tendencies." and then i proceeded to tell some even more elaborate lies. it was pretty awesome.

i guess i'll be at sidekicks tonight. again. even though i really hate that place.

blah.

- was runner up in my elementary school geography bee, as the only girl in the competition, and the youngest to place. this is a great accomplishment and, obviously, it has gotten me far in life. (1994)
- one of my waferbaby how-tos was mentioned on K10k. this is my biggest e-acheivement. look at me go. (2001-2?)
- graduated high school with about 8 million other people, cause it's like, so hard and everything. entered the university of texas the following august, which is actually a marginal achievement. (2002)
- got alcohol poisoning and almost died the night before my 16th birthday. (2000)
- while playing mini-golf, frustrated by my poor motor skills, i screamed, for the world to hear, "I AM A GODDAMN AVOCADO!!!" (1986)
- finally figured out that "suicide" was not the same thing as "sewer side". (1990)
- decided it was a really good idea to take up smoking to look cool. (1996)
- decided it was a really good idea to beat the shit out of someone smaller and a lot more nerdy than me (who, btw, totally deserved it), for which i was sent to juvy and hit on by gang members. (1997)
- dated the same person i beat the shit out of for a year. (2000-1)
- had an abortion, smoked crack, and stole a police car in the same day.
i hate life-ruiners. some people need to grow the fuck up.

there are so many things i wish i had done differently to avoid ending up where i am now.
too often i find myself wanting to cry, unable to control anything that's going on around me,
bearing the brunt of too many childish outbursts and temper tantrums, being ignored and
misunderstood constantly.

i blame myself for letting things escalate to this point. it's unbearable.

my birthday is in 28 days. i'm not sure what difference it really makes.

i want a tattoo of henry darger drawings. i'm going to wait and see how popular the movie
becomes first. it seems like i'm always five minutes ahead of everyone else and then they
ruin everything i love. but hopefully most people will just be like "eh" and forget about it
in a week.

i want to fall in love again.
but that's entirely selfish and stupid.
i think i really just want to be able to feel something again, besides boredom and annoyance.

sorry for being a douchebag.

WHY PUBLIC OPINION DOESN'T MATTER IN THE FIGHT FOR GAY RIGHTS

With the Liberal's gay marriage bill now tabled, there has been much talk from MPs about "consulting the public," "listening to the public's concerns" and "engaging in public debate." Strangely, the overwhelming majority of those who call for debate and consultation are opposed to supporting gay marriage on any governmental level; more strangely still, these individuals have embraced a concept of democracy that has been considered obsolete now for more than 125 years. Put plainly, all modern democratic systems, and their associated theories of justice, place a limit on the degree to which people's decisions can affect the lives of others.

The now obsolete theory of democracy to which these individuals apply can loosely be described as utilitarianism, the theory that the will of the greatest number of people is that which dominates. (Indeed, this is how most people today understand democracy, particularly those who lean to the right.) While this political theory proved very useful for securing the rights of the middle class and lower classes in Britain and America during the 18th century, protecting them against the whims of aristocracy, serious concerns regarding its protection of minorities were raised during the early 19th century, with the proliferation of slavery in the southern United States.

What some realized was that the will of the majority was not always in humanity's best interest. The initial desire that had given rise to utilitarianism--equal treatment for the majority--had been achieved (though this was in fact false, for women had not yet achieved any substantial progress in securing their rights), and so emerged the question: do not all people deserve equal rights? Can a person be victimized and persecuted for exhibiting traits that are the result of birth and not personal choice? (Or, eventually, can a person be victimized and persecuted for personal choices which do not negatively harm others?)

Utilitarianism was unique in that it rejected superstition and religion in the formulation of laws and justice. A person could not be arbitrarily stripped of his or her rights; the utilitarian demanded empirical proof be supplied that a person's actions negatively affected others before such action could be taken. What the American civil war taught America (and should have taught us Canadians) is that economic, religious and personal arguments cannot strip an entire demographic of their rights. The purpose of modern government is not to bend to the whims of the majority, but to create and enforce an egalitarian theory of justice which extends a set of standard rights and freedoms across the board to encompass all its citizens.

Those who pule for our elected representatives to listen to the voice of the people subscribe to an extinct breed of democracy, which died after proving itself incapable of protecting the rights of its citizens. Such people are loathesome, dangerous fools.

i didn't want to get married, anyway.
i wouldn't get an abortion either, but i think this argument applies to that, too.

WHY CANT EVERYONE JUST KEEP THEIR "MORALS" TO THEMSELVES ???
